Just wanted to let everyone know that we found a great deal on airfare and car rental. We managed to book tickets from Dulles airport to Shannon for two people and rent an automatic car for 11 days for just under $1300! You can get this deal by going to the Aer Lingus vacation store and clicking on “fly and drive”. Our travel agent-Barbara Sabo (703-591-3544) can do this for you, or you can book online yourself.
We would like to offer a couple bits of advice. If you are attempting to return to Dulles, the flight from Shannon is not very convenient. It departs at 6:50 am and goes on to dublin where you will sit in layover until 12:30 pm at which point you finally depart for Dulles. Another option for you is to drive across the country to Dublin (takes approximately 5 hours) and catch the plane there. That way you could spend some time exploring Dublin the day before and then leave for the airport the next day at a more civilized time.
The Dublin airport is located about 30 minutes north of the city-allow more time if you are trying to leave at rush hour. In order to pick Dublin as your return city just click multi city box on the website and you will be able to fly in to Shannon but out of Dublin. We strongly advise people to book automatic cars and to choose CDW insurance. Once you’ve added the car you’d like on the site, add to your cart. Scroll down to the car selection and click on options to add the insurance. Once you’ve clicked the appropriate box, select save and it will update your total cost.
